Houseboat permits allow for overnight use at any designated houseboat site in Voyageurs National Park. Overnight locations are available to the first user. This site is fantastic. The fire ring is slightly up the hill and it makes for a perfect evening watching the sun set. The water is almost always calm, as the beach is very secluded. We were there in August of 2025 and there was a large snapping turtle that would come up to the houseboat and stick his/her head out of the water and just look at us. My wife correctly guessed that others had probably fed it, making it assuming we would do the same, which she did by tossing beer sticks and dog treats to the large reptile. I hope no one catches and kills the turtle, as we enjoyed waiting for his/her return every morning to greet us.
